Coming back to the delivery process. Baby Kayla was born on 21 Feb 2007 at East Shore Hospital. She was born at 3.32kg to the proud parents, Kelvin and Sabrinna at 6.34 AM.
Labour process was terrible as usual just that God allowed it to be lesser number of hours this time. 10 to be exact. However, Labour is just part of the journey of our beautiful creation. Although this time there is no additional painkiller called the Epidural. Although it was so painful that my vision was blurred. Although it was painful that the ordeal went past like a flash. I would have to say I enjoyed every moment of it as I received something so beautiful which is My little girl, Kayla.
Hubby, if you ever read this, I would like to tell you that I appreciate how supportive you were to me during these ten hours of labour, how patient you have been thru out the difficult process of you know what, the hours you have been looking after baby while being absent from going out to buy in cars. Well I guess this is the way God created childbirth and parenthood. Of coz we had our bad times too but looking at our daughter, I think its all worthwhile. Baby is 10 days old and I am also recovering now. The stitches hurt a little, everything is getting back to normal. But we are still trying to adjust to the late nights of baby getting up. In time to come, I am sure everything will be smooth sailing. :)
I was having dinner on the 3rd day of Chinese New Year with my Family at Joo Chiat - Kims. And hey presto, My water bag while we were waiting for the food. Its was quite an ordeal as my pants were soaked. I really thank my lucky stars that I was so near East Shore. Everyone stopped eating. We ate like 2 out of 6 dishes and we all went to the hospital. My make up was all on. Hubby went back immediately to take all my basic nessecities and the Baby Delivery bag. <-- Bag that had all the necessary supplies.
I was admitted at about 8.30pm on 20 Feb 2007. Hubby came back to the hospital at about 9.15 pm. He was all geared to go thru the night with me. He was very supportive thru out the night to wee hours of the next morning and even now when we are back at home. All the mid wives and even my gynae were full of praise for him. The contractions came and went, with the help of the Oxygen and hubby cracking jokes and bringing Milo in for me, the labour was a breeze from 9pm - 4am.
4 am - Pain came, the contractions were getting more frequent. I was relying so much on the mask. And i received my second jab on my thigh to ease the pain. I could feel the baby coming and I could also hear the mid wives telling my hubby that the cervix was 6 - 8 cm.
5 am - The pain was so much to handle. I could hear Hubby telling the mid wife to go ahead with the epidural. The mid wife's reply - ........ endure ..... I really could not hear a thing, I went into stages of blankness. I could hear some and not some. Everything was not impt anymore, We just wanted the safe delivery of our little girl.
6 am - Roger Heng, My gynae came and told hubby to prepare for Labour. Baby's presence was so near. I felt this funny and painful urge like to pass motion. It is actually the baby coming. Everything was blurred, I saw two same of everything around me. Labour began and before I knew it. Baby Kayla came into this world at 6.34 am. I could hear her cry and they put her into my arms for a while.
The normal cleaning and weighing process took place. They did the normal sewing for me and cleaning up. Baby was placed with me and we were wheeled to wards. They took her away from me when we pass the nursery to clean her up. Daddy was with me by the bed side. As i fell asleep because of the weariness and painkillers, i could see the strong father who was burnt out but was holding on for his family.
This sums up my Delivery process. Its a very magical moment shared between 3 people. I will always remember this day as long as I live.
Hearts Dear
